Brian Skanes, Executive Director
Mr. Skanes has worked for over 30 years with Boys & Girls Clubs on local, regional and national levels. He has served as the Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester since 1994. Prior to this he was Regional Vice President or the Northeast Region of Boys & Girls Clubs of America; Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club for Binghamton, New York; Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Billerica, Mass.; Assistant Executive Director of the Nashua, NH Boys & Girls Club; and Program Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Salem, NH.
This Boys & Girls Club veteran pioneered the Club's major renovation and expansion; its first since 1963. Under Mr. Skanes' auspices, the Club's annual budget has more than tripled from $800,000 to almost $4 million, and the Capital Campaign surpassed its' $6 million goal by almost $1million to $6.9 million.
Mr. Skanes has received numerous awards including Nashua, NH Citizen of the Year, Professional of the Year for Central New York 1989, Professional of the Year Northeast Region 1989, Executive of the Year Northeast Region 2001, and a 30 Year Service to Youth Award from Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 2004. More recently, Mr. Skanes was awarded the Mt. Kisco Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 2002, and Boys & Girls Clubs of America Contribution to the Profession Award in 2005.
He has been a Board member for over 15 years on the Association of Boys & Girls Clubs Professionals (ABGCP) and is Chairman of the Hudson Valley Chapter. In addition, he serves as a member of the Tom Garth Leadership Program Class of 2001. He is also a member of various civic and professional organizations, including past President of Mt. Kisco Rotary Club, past Treasurer and President of the Mt. Kisco Chamber of Commerce, and the President's Council of the Northern Westchester Hospital Center.
Mr. Skanes also serves as a Career Consultant with Boys & Girls Clubs of America and is a member of the Career Advancement Team. He is also a distinguished member of the Academy of Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Mr. Skanes received his B.S. degree from the University of Massachusetts and resides in Mt. Kisco with his wife Jean and their two children Mark and Monica.
Barbara Cutri, Director of Operations
Mrs. Cutri has been involved with the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester since 1964, when she enrolled as a member. Prior to being named Director of Operations in 2000, she served as the Program Director, Child Care Director, a Pre-school teacher and volunteer.
Her passion for youth and her belief in the mission and purpose of the Boys & Girls Club have provided Mrs. Cutri with the impetus to improve and develop quality programs at the Club. She has worked to develop and license both the preschool and after school programs at the Club. She has raised the professionalism of the preschool and school age staff, securing funding for training and college level courses and has developed and enhanced the youth and teen programming at the Club.
Mrs. Cutri received an award from the New York State Education Department and Westchester Association for Retarded Citizens for her work in inclusion programming of children with special needs at the Club. She has also been a recipient of a community "Woman Of The Year" and Boys & Girls Clubs of America's "North East Region Youth Develop Professional" awards.
Currently, she is a member of the Association of Boys & Girls Club Professionals (ABGCP). In addition, she served on the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Committee that developed the Kids and Company Program for Child Safety. She is a member of the Child Care Council of Westchester, Child Health Task Force, Bedford Central School District's Committee on Special Education, Mt. Kisco's Lions Club, the Yorktown Alliance for Safe Kids, and Westchester/Putnam Boy Scouts of America Board.
Mrs. Cutri received her B.S. degree from State University of New York's Empire State College. She lives in Mt. Kisco with her husband Tony and sons Mike and Marc.
Mona Halter, Director of Finance and Administration
Mrs. Halter began her career with the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester in 2010. She has more than 20 years of experience in non-profit management, specializing in accounting data base systems. She is responsible for assisting the Executive Director in developing, maintaining and administering an operating budget of $2.7 million.
Before coming to the Club, Mrs. Halter was the Director of Finance and Administration at JMT Consulting Group, which specializes in accounting and fundraising solutions for non-profit organizations, where she managed the fiscal operations of the company and also worked closely with the executive team. Prior to joining JMT, she was the Comptroller at Temple Shaaray Tefila of Westchester where she was responsible for all bookkeeping and accounting functions.
In her career, Mrs. Halter has also held numerous controller positions for well known nonprofit organizations including, American Friends of the Hebrew University and The New York Botanical Garden. Prior to that, she worked for Oxford Medical Group and Knowledge Sciences.
Mrs. Halter holds an MBA in Accounting from Pace University and a B.S. in Biology from Brooklyn College. She resides in Brewster with her husband, Jerry, and her son, Frederick.
