BGCNW's 16th Annual Humanitarian Dinner Sustains Youth and raises over $300,000
Mount Kisco, NY (June 29, 2010) — The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester's Humanitarian Dinner honoring William and Jane Balter of Mt. Kisco took place on June 5th at Lexus of Mt. Kisco. The Balters were recognized for their many years of outstanding service and dedication. This year's theme, "Sustain," celebrates the Club's goal to preserve, protect, and nurture the youngest generation with its healthy nutrition, green living, and renewable energy initiatives. Daniel Van Starrenburg from SavATree served as the emcee for the evening.
Everything about the event was green, from the Lexus of Mount Kisco venue, to the rows of giant boxwood and magnolia trees that greeted the attendees, to the vegetable seedlings and live plants that served as table decorations. The annual fundraising event, with 350 in attendance, raised $320,000 (net) for the "Positive Place for Kids." The proceeds go directly to "sustain" the Club's program and services for more than 2,500 youth members. A cash call at the end of the evening raised nearly $50,000 for scholarship funds to defray program costs for children in need.
