BGCNW Offers Alternative for Used Clothing
Mount Kisco, NY – (September 6, 2011) – Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester (BGCNW) has partnered with USAgain, a for-profit textile recycling company, to aid in conserving the amount of discarded used clothing. BGCNW now has three clothing drop bins in the facility's Mount Kisco parking lot.

The clothing drop bins are designed to provide an eco-friendly way to discard unwanted clothing, shoes and other textiles in addition to providing a new revenue stream to BGCNW. The bins will also provide an opportunity for the Club to educate community members about recycling and reuse.
"The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester is committed to helping foster the community," said BGCNW Executive Director, Brian Skanes. "Part of that commitment involves conserving the environment. These bins will provide community members with an alternative to simply throwing away unwanted clothing."
"USAgain is proud to partner with the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester," said Mattias Wallander, CEO of USAgain. "We are proud to support their mission and provide a valuable service to the community."
According to the EPA, 12.7 million tons of textile waste is generated each year. Only 15% of this is collected for reuse and recycling, the remainder going into landfills. In 2010 alone, USAgain collected over 56 million pounds of discarded clothing that were resold in the US and abroad.
