Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Wins Top Marketing Award

Mount Kisco, NY (September 5, 2007) — The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester recently received two National Marketing Awards from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). The Gold Award in Publicity/Media Relations, for the Club's 2006 promotional video featuring former President Bill Clinton, is accompanied by a $1,000 prize. The Club also won a Bronze Award in Publications for "Strides", their annual report. The video and publication were selected from hundreds of entries submitted by Boys & Girls Clubs across the country. The awards were recently presented at BGCA's 101st annual national conference in Orlando, Florida.

"Our Clubs — no matter what their size — are taking their advertising campaigns to the next level making people stand up and take notice," said Evan McElroy, senior vice president in marketing and communications, Boys & Girls Clubs of America. "Efforts such as these are Boys & Girls Clubs a household name."

The Club's five minute video features interviews with Boys & Girls Club alumnus President Clinton, former Youths of the Year, Board leaders, and staff. The video was developed as a marketing tool to build the emotional connection to the Club through personal presentations of facts and anecdotes. It has been used by Board members and executive staff to promote the organization to various stakeholders, and was premiered at the Club's 2006 annual gala to an audience of 650 community leaders and philanthropists. Jon Kamen, chairman and CEO of @radical.media, generously donated his time and talents developing the video.

Club board member Herb Reinke of Chappaqua, NY is the designer of "Strides". "Herb Reinke generously donates his services for this and many additional projects each year," said Brian Skanes, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester. "We are grateful for his unique talents, inspiration, and passion for the Club."

This represents the sixth time the Club has received a national award from Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The Club won three silver awards, two for their advertising campaign design (2002 and 2003) and one for their comprehensive marketing strategy (2002), as well as a bronze award for last year for "Strides", their annual report.
