Club Names Skip Beitzel and Tom O'Brien President and Vice President — Bonnie Trotta and Seema Boesky Step Down After Combined 21 Years of Service
Mount Kisco, NY (August 13, 2007) — The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester recently named Armonk business owner Skip Beitzel as president of the Club's board of directors. Beitzel takes the place of 15-year president Bonnie Trotta, who will become president emeritus of the board. Mount Kisco architect Tom O'Brien steps in as vice president, following the six-year term of Seema Boesky, who has been named vice president emeritus.
Skip Beitzel, owner of Hickory & Tweed Ski & Cyclery in Armonk, began his relationship with the Club through his three sons, who participated in sports programs and learned to swim at the Club. An 11-year member of the board of directors, Beitzel served on the Club's Board Development, Annual Appeal, Major Gifts, and Capital Campaign Committees. He and his wife, Michaela, were honored in 2004 with the Club's "Humanitarian Award," the highest honor given by the Club to its supporters. "I look forward to following in the footsteps of Bonnie Trotta, whose contributions to the Club in her 15 years as president are immeasurable," says Beitzel.
A graduate of the University of Vermont and Harvard Business School, Beitzel enjoyed a career in advertising until 1985, when he purchased Hickory & Tweed. He resides in Mount Kisco, NY with his wife and three sons.
Tom O'Brien was a member of the Club during his childhood years in Mount Kisco. He returned to the Club in 1998 as a board member, serving on the Property Management Committee as well as chairing the Club's Alumni Committee and annual Superbowl Phone-a-thon. "Needless to say, Seema set a high standard for the vice presidency of the Club," says O'Brien. "I plan to work with Skip and the board to continue to steer the club on its impressive course."
O'Brien's Mount Kisco-based firm, O'Brien Architecture, has been designing homes for over 20 years. O'Brien has also volunteered his services for a Habitat for Humanity project in Bedford. O'Brien is a graduate of Alfred State University and the University of Toronto. He is a resident of Bedford, NY.
"We look forward to the insight, experience, and leadership that Skip and Tom will provide over the coming years. Bonnie and Seema will continue to play a pivotal role in the Club's operations and we are extremely grateful for their many years of dedication and commitment," commented Brian Skanes, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester.
