Board President Skip Beitzel Named Outstanding Citizen of 2007 by Armonk Rotary Club

Mount Kisco, NY (January 10, 2008) — Skip Beitzel, Board President of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester, was named Outstanding Citizen of 2007 by the Armonk Rotary Club. Beitzel recently received his award at the Rotary Club's annual dinner at the Canyon Club in Armonk. Approximately 200 guests attended the evening including fellow rotarians, community supporters, area businesses, local politicians, and Club board members.

Beitzel was named Board President in 2007 after serving for 11 years on the board of directors on the Club's Board Development, Annual Appeal, Major Gifts, and Capital Campaign Committees. He and his wife, Michaela, were honored in 2004 with the Club's "Humanitarian Award," the highest honor given by the Club to its supporters. Beitzel has enjoyed a long relationship with the Boys & Girls Clubs that began with his sons' involvement in Club sports and swimming programs.

Owner of Hickory & Tweed Ski & Cyclery in Armonk, Beitzel enjoyed a career in advertising until 1985, when he purchased the store. Since then, Hickory & Tweed has grown significantly through its family ski and snowboard leasing services and bicycle business.

In addition to his position on the Club's board of directors, Beitzel has served on the board of the Westchester/Putnam Council of the Boys Scouts of America, The Byram Hills Scholarship Fund, the Rippowam-Cisqua School in Bedford, Chairman of the University of Vermont Fund, and is a member of the President's Advisory Council of Northern Westchester Hospital Center.

"Skip exemplifies community leadership and charitable giving through his long-standing involvement with a multitude of Westchester-based organizations," said Brian Skanes, Executive Director, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester. "With Skip now at the helm of the Board, we look forward to his outstanding leadership skills and strategic direction."

Beitzel is a graduate of the University of Vermont and Harvard Business School. He and his wife, Michaela, live in Mount Kisco with their sons, Mac, Chase, and Ryder.
