NewsroomBoys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester to Participate in National Fine Arts Program.Mount Kisco, NY (February 21, 2007) — The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester is one of more than 3,300 Clubs across the country joining in a search to identify talented young artists. The competition is part of Boys & Girls Clubs of America's (B&GCA) National Fine Arts Exhibit program. B&GCA's National Fine Arts Exhibit program is a comprehensive initiative promoting young people's creativity and encouraging artistic skills and cultural enrichment. As a participant in the National Fine Arts Exhibit Program, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester may submit members' artwork in four age divisions and 10 categories, including watercolor, pastel, oil, acrylic, and collage. Selected artwork will be screened at the regional level and a limited number were forwarded to B&GCA's Atlanta Headquarters for judging at the national level. Forty national winners will be named and their artwork displayed at special events throughout the year. Winning artists will also receive an engraved plaque and letter of congratulations from B&GCA President Roxanne Spillett. Regional finalists will receive a certificate of participation. "We are most fortunate to have the ability to participate in the fine arts program," said Barbara E. Cutri, Director of Operations, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester. "Boys & Girls Clubs of America's Fine Arts Program enable our members to pursue their artistic talents and develop creative thinking that will last a lifetime." This is the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester's 9th year of participation in this program. The Club has sent over 250 pieces of artwork to the Regional Competitions and has the distinction of 8 National winners. First place winners who will go to the Regional Exhibit Competition in March are: Jon Anthony Avila (Bedford Hills), Doris Berman (Mt. Kisco), Diana Guerra (Bedford Hills), Karina Ikeda (Armonk), Noah Ives (Chappaqua), Jessica Liang (Bedford), Erin Liffiton (Somers), Lauren McLean (Mt. Kisco), Germain Ricardo (Katonah), David Thompson (Mt. Kisco), Chrizza Venturina (Bedford Hills), and Rachel Weisbrot (Katonah). |
