Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester Party with The Beach Boys — Event Raises $400,000 for The Positive Place for Kids

Mount Kisco, NY (November 6, 2007) — The Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester welcomed The Beach Boys as the feature act in their latest fundraiser, "The Beach Boys Party", a beach-themed event with cocktails, dinner, and dancing. A transformed tennis bubble at the Saw Mill Club became their beach bungalow setting complete with tiki huts, beach balls, palm trees, and a dance floor. The 400 community supporters, area supporters, and board members in attendance raised $400,000 for "The Positive Place for Kids".

Captained by the ageless Mike Love and Grammy-winning songwriter Bruce Johnston, The Beach Boys maintain the same bold imagination and style that marked their birth over 40 years ago. In a special performance, Tom O'Brien, Vice President of the Club's Board of Directors, and Club supporters Scott and Sue Schaevitz, joined The Beach Boys for the band classic, "Barbara Ann". Paul Shaffer, musical director of the CBS Orchestra and longtime David Letterman sideman, also made an appearance on the keyboard. Other band members include Tim Bonhomme on keyboard, Mike Kowalski on drums, Adrian Barker and Scott Totten on guitar, Chris Farmer on bass, and John Cowsill on percussion.

The LaBlanc Brothers opened the evening with music that combines classic rock/pop with rhythm and blues. Paul Shaffer surprised the crowd when he joined the LaBlanc Brothers for impromptu performance of Joe Cocker's "Feeling Alright". Based out of Westchester and Fairfield counties, the LaBlanc Brothers features Robbie and Brian LaBlanc, along with other world-class band members.

Brian Skanes, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester, said that he is pleased with The Beach Boys Party's outcome. "We are incredibly grateful to our community for their suppport," he said. "Their contributions made The Beach Boys Party a success. It was a great way to have fun while supporting a worthy cause."
