Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester Members Receive WilsonDailyPrep Scholarships

Mount Kisco, NY (April 30, 2009) – Twelve members of the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester recently received scholarships to WilsonDailyPrep, an innovative online SAT Prep service. The scholarships were donated by Chappaqua resident Laura Wilson, founder and President of WilsonDailyPrep.

Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester Members Receive WilsonDailyPrep Scholarships WilsonDailyPrep is an effective stand-alone program that complements other tutoring options. The program encourages high school sophomores and juniors to engage in SAT prep daily. Through this scholarship program, each of the twelve Club members has an opportunity now to engage in daily SAT preparation. The program holds these students accountable for completing their assignments. This accountability is the key to increasing students' scores. The Boys and Girls Club students will receive this feedback and a personal coach to monitor their progress for one year. Ms. Wilson has also donated supplemental practice books and materials.

A former English teacher, Laura Wilson created WilsonDailyPrep after she saw that daily, deliberate practice equates to higher SAT scores. She is also founder and CEO of Wilson Prep, a premier tutoring boutique in Northern Westchester. Like many tutors, Laura Wilson found that students tended to do their weekly assignments in one sitting, the evening before their scheduled tutoring session. She knew that this "one shot" a week approach was not the most productive way to prepare for the test.

Ms. Wilson says, "I really enjoy coaching these eager, highly motivated students. They ask wonderful questions and truly want to work hard to succeed."

In addition to SAT prep, students will also have the opportunity to engage in online ACT prep if they so choose. Students have access to an interactive, 1000-word vocabulary game, VocabPrep, multimedia video lessons, and other supplemental test prep materials.

The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester is located at 351 Main Street, Mt. Kisco, NY and can be reached at (914) 666-8069 or email.
