Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester's 15th Annual Humanitarian Award Dinner Gears Up for June 6th
Online Auction Goes Live!

Mt. Kisco, NY (May 11, 2009) – The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester will hold its 15th annual Humanitarian Award Dinner on Saturday, June 6 at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, NY.

Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester Members Receive WilsonDailyPrep Scholarships The Club recently took their fundraising efforts to the internet with an online auction. The auction, which accompanies the traditional gala, features over 180 items that range from a weeklong vacation in Costa Rica or the Bahamas, a studio visit to The O'Reilly Factor with Bill O'Reilly, or the set of Glenn Close's Damages. The dinner will recognize Ursula and Thomas LaMotte of Bedford, NY as this year's Humanitarian of the Year recipients for their outstanding service and dedication. The Humanitarian Award is the highest honor given by the Club to its supporters.

Former Westchester County Legislator Ursula G. LaMotte has a distinguished record of public service. Ursula became a Club board member in 1996. She served as President and 1st Vice-President of the United Way of Northern Westchester and Chair of the Bedford/Pound Ridge/Lewisboro Drug Abuse Prevention Council. Other board memberships include the Westchester's Children's Association, the Children's Aid Society of New York, the Visiting Nurse Association of Hudson Valley, and the President's Council of the Northern Westchester Hospital. Prior to serving as a County Legislator, Ursula served two terms as a Bedford Town Councilwoman and Deputy Town Supervisor.

Thomas LaMotte has a long history of giving back to his community. He is a board member and active singer in the Westchester Chordsmen Chorus and a member of the Bedford Republican Town Committee. Thomas is the former Chairman of the SPCA of Westchester. Other former board memberships include the Westchester Chapter of the Boy Scouts of America, the Rippowam Cisqua School, as well as the Alumni Boards of the Westminster School and the University of Colorado Business School. Prior to retirement, Thomas LaMotte was President of Prime Office Systems, a company owning and operating executive suits in New York and Connecticut.

This year's Humanitarian Dinner co-chairs are Heidi Johnston (of Cross River), Maria Roach (of Pound Ridge), and Bonnie Trotta (of Mount Kisco). Linda Mahon (of Mount Kisco) and Christine Gelwicks (of Katonah) are associate chairs.

Last year's Humanitarian Dinner raised over one million dollars for "The Positive Place for Kids". All proceeds from the event provide scholarships for children in need and support programs and services for the Club's 2,500 youth, boys and girls ages 6 months to 18 years.

The Humanitarian Awards Dinner is open to all by advance reservation. This year's theme, "Celebrating Our Children," looks back at all "Youth of the Year" winners and nominees and celebrates their wonderful accomplishments over the years. The cocktail reception, which begins at 6:30 p.m., will be followed by a sit-down dinner. There will be an award presentation and dancing. Individual tickets are $350; sponsorship tables are also available.
