Boys & Girls Clubs 12th Annual Humanitarian Award Dinner — More Than $700,000 Raised for the "Positive Place for Kids"
Mt. Kisco, New York (6-08-06) — Nearly 650 community supporters, area corporations, and board members recently gathered at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester's 12th annual Humanitarian Award Dinner, in honor of John and Amy Crabtree, owners of Crabtree's Kittle House and residents of Pound Ridge, NY. Sponsored by Bonnie and Tom Trotta, the highly successful event was held on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at The Saw Mill Club in Mt. Kisco.
This year's Humanitarian Award Dinner raised approximately $700,000 for "The Positive Place for Kids." A portion of the proceeds will be earmarked for the Clubs' nutrition initiative. This year the Club added an online auction to complement its traditional live event.
Board President Bonnie Trotta presented the Crabtree's with the Clubs' Humanitarian Award. The Humanitarian Award is the highest honor the Club gives to one of its supporters.
John Crabtree has served on the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester for the past two years. Amy Crabtree has served on the Clubs' Humanitarian Award Dinner decorating committee. In addition, they have been sponsors of the Clubs' Humanitarian Award Dinner, Annual Golf Tournament, and its NBA Legends Basketball Tournament.
"John and Amy Crabtree are an inspiration to this community at large," said Brian Skanes, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester. "They are wonderful supporters who contribute their own unique talents to better our Club and we are proud to pay tribute to them."
In addition to the Humanitarian Award, several other awards were presented during the evening. Board Vice President Seema Boesky presented the John Beach Charity Award to Board member Paul Salvatore and his wife, Pamela, residents of Bedford, NY and longtime supporters of the Club. Six-year Club member Kristina Krueger of Somers received the Youth of the Year Award, the highest honor the Club gives to one of its youth members. Maryanny Hidalgo, a junior at Sleepy Hollow High School, accepted the Chris Cutri Memorial Award for her positive attitude and integrity.
Masters of ceremonies was actor Billy Baldwin ("Backdraft," "Flatliners"). Sotheby's also provided professional auctioneer, August O. Uribe, for the event. A five-minute video featuring President Clinton, the Crabtree's, the Salvatore's, and past Youth of the Year winners was premiered at the Dinner.
